Its unreal to think that it is already February! Feels like just a couple of days ago I was moving to the amazing city of NY, throwing myself into the unknown, and crossing my fingers it all went well. Now  everyday I see something or meet someone that reminds me that I couldn’t have done anything else. I live in a city full of opportunity, and even when the path hasn’t been easy, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I am happy at a job at Victoria Secret Corporate, a great apartment in Brooklyn and the gift of meeting people from all over the world every single day. Even with the sporadic not-so-easy moments, I feel fortunate to have the opportunity  to grow up and mature in one of the best cities in the world.

I have lived two beautiful seasons so far, each with their own magic. Autumn filled the trees with gorgeous orange and yellow shades while winter has brought lots of snow filled mornings and chilly nights. But nothing can compare to a quiet and peaceful city covered in fluffy white snow, and that is why it is one of my favorites. But this weather brings about cold temperatures that require lots of layers and great coats.

One of my go to cold weather favorites is this sheep skin coat I got a year ago but never wore in Seattle. Its the perfect statement jacket that works to give life to a plain all black ensemble and also keeps me warm on those cold and sunny New York Days. This piece is from last years collection at Banana Republic so unfortunately the same coat does not exist today, but I have listed below some alternatives so you can get my same look right this moment!

Hola mis queridos fashionistas,

Es una locura pensar que ya es Febrero! Parece que fue ayer cenado tome la decision de dejar toda mi vida atrás y mudarme a la increíble ciudad de Nueva York. Ahora después de 5 meses, me he dado cuenta que si en verdad fue la mejor decision para mi vida profesional. He conocido acá una ciudad llena de oportunidad y por fin veo el camino que tanto había so;ado.

Estoy feliz en un increíble trabajo en las sucursales de Victoria Secret, tengo un apartamento increíble en Brooklyn, y cada día tengo la oportunidad de conocer gente de todas las partes del mundo y abrir mi mente un poco mas a nuevas culturas experiencias. No puedo negar que ha sido difícil, y que han habido momentos cuando pensaba que ya no podia mas, pero me siento super afortunada de vivir en una de las mejores ciudades del mundo, Nueva York.

 

Ya he pasado dos lindas estaciones en NY, cada una con su propia majia. Sea las increíbles ojos de colores de otoño o los copitos de nieve llenando el aire en una tarde de invierno. Pero este clima cada vez se pone mas frío y por eso me mantengo con muchas capas para sobrevivir! Una de mis favoritas es una pieza de Banana Republic de hace un año que nunca me ponía en mi vieja ciudad de Seattle. Esta chaqueta es la pieza perfecta para dejar a la gente boca abierta por su inigualable textura, pero también te mantiene caliente del viento helado de la ciudad.

Desafotunadamente no pude encontrar la misma chaqueta por que es un modelo de año pasado, pero si les puse varios ejemplos des chaquetas parecidas que tienen el mismo estilo desde $35 hasta $175 dolares. Así ya puedes imitar mi mismo look con una pinta de pies a cabeza negra y tu chaqueta de borrego.

The Red trench coat and The Plaza

Hi my dear fashionistas,

I have been thinking a lot lately about what my favorite time of the year is and I think I am always happier around Fall. The trees are changing colors, that crisp cold air starts to fill your lungs and layers being to be a part of our everyday wardrobes. Even though I usually live in black during the winter, Fall is a perfect time to break out the burgundy pieces in my closet and show them off. For my latest shoot, I chose to embrace the holiday spirit and throw on a bright red trench coat over a long turtleneck.

This cute trench is from SheIn and was under 25 dollars! Great piece to have under a leather jacket or a fur vest for a cozy layered look for the cold NY weather. I am weather jeans from my favorite American Eagle (they are just the right length!) and my shoes are from Dolce Vita. My metallic sunglasses are actually from Canal street (the best place to get designer dupes for $5 and my purse was on sale from Aldo.

#InSearchOf event in SOHO

This past Saturday I got to attend a special event in honor of the premiere of the TBS series  Search Party. I actually didn’t know very much about the series but got hooked after attending the event in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The series tell the story of four friends who become involved in the disappearance of a college acquaintance, but in reality each of them is searching for more than a missing person. The theme of the event was #InSearchof and was done in partnership with The Cut, The New York Times, Paint Box and The Fellow Barber. Free haircuts, manicures and headshot were offered to everyone coming in as well as prices for taking pictures with the many amazing products and tagging #InSearchOf. I thought the event was a great way to link up with retailers and brands and get the word out about the new show, I am already on the 5th episode!

To the event I went with a monochromatic grey ensemble wearing my current fall obsession: the metallic statement jacket from Zara. I layered a simple long sleeve dress from SheIn with a suede vest from a local NY boutique and my statement Zara silver jacket with matching silver scarf from H&M.

Este Sábado pasado tuve la oportunidad de ir a un evento para el lanzamiento oficial de la nueva serie de TBS Search Party. Aunque no sabia mucho acerca de la serie el evento me volvió una super fan! La serie se trata de cuanto amigos y la manera en la que sus vidas cambian cuando se envuelven en la desaparición de una compañera de la universidad. El evento tomo lugar en Williamsburg, Brooklyn y el tema principal era #EnBuscaDe o #InSearchOf. Con la ayuda de The Cut, el New York Times, Paint Box y The Fellow Barber, el evento tenia todo, desde cortes de pelo gratis, manicures, y fotos de perfil profesionales. Me divertí mucho tomándome un buen expresso y viendo todos los libros, artesanías y ropa de tiendas locales que habían y encontrando lo que “estaba buscando”. Cada persona que ponía una foto con el #hashtag del evento recibió una bolsita con premios. En serio el evento fue perfecto para emocionar a la gente acerca de la nueva serie en la que ya voy en el quinto capitulo!

Para el evento escogí una pinta monocromatica con colores grises y como centro de atención mi ultima obsesión: la chaqueta moto metálica de Zara. Comencé con una pieza simple como mi vestido de manga larga de SheIn y encima un chaleco de cuero de una boutique local de NY, y por ultimo la chaqueta de Zara color platiado y una bufanda del mismo color de H&M.

Simply Stylist NY Conference

Hello my dear fashionistas,

I realized this today that it officially been two months of moving to NYC! I cant believe how fast time has flown by. I remember getting on that one way flight to the city, nervous about what this decision would mean. But now I’m sitting here in an amazing apartment in Brooklyn, getting ready for my first day at the Victoria Secret Headquarters and I know that I made the right decision and now there is no going back.

Being in NY has opened the doors for so many new opportunities for me. I have been able to network with people that I look up to working in the Fashion Industry and really see what could be my life in a few years after living in this city. This past Saturday I got the chance to attend the Simply Stylist Conference at the Yotel Hotel near Times Square. Right when I was just one block away (running late as usual..) I met Lauren Bushnell crossing the street! But the surprises didn’t stop there, the day was filled with many more.

The all day event started bright and early, at 10 am, with an amazing brunch followed by 3 incredible panel discussions. Each panel, spread out during the course of the day, hit on multiple areas regarding the fashion industry. The first was the Blogger Panel which included: Holy Nichols from Nichols Illustrations, Jacey Duprie from Damsel in Dior and Kat Tanita from with love from Kat. The Entrepreneur Panel moderated by Deniese Caldwell from Style+Beauty Expert consisted of Liliana Vazquez from TheLVGuide.com, Claire Sulmers from Fashion Bomb Daily and Gwendolyn Floyd from Soko. Finally the Stylist Panel had Christine Cameron from My Style Pill, Joey Maalouf, the founder of The Glam App, Ashley Kiely from Style Watch and costume designer Jackie Demetrio.

All of these inspirational speakers talked in detail about the fashion industry and how to succeed no matter what path you choose. After the speakers I got a chance to get pampered with make up, hair and nails being done by The Glam App (which I loved! I consider you check them out!), French Connection displayed some of their gorgeous Fall must haves and had a fun Photo Booth and there was even a massage station!

I honestly didn’t want the day to end and I am counting down the days for the next one 🙂

For the event I wore a gorgeous lace dress from SheIn, which absolutely stole the night. It make me feel sexy with its bright red color but elegant and sophisticated with the drop shoulders and over the knee length. And my statement clutch is actually made with rolls of sushi! A little pop of metallic for Fall

Hello my dear Fashionistas,

After 3 weeks of living in the big apple, I think I can officially call myself a New Yorker. I have gotten lost on the subway multiple times, been used over for walking “too slow”, fallen in love with 99 cent pizza slices, and seen the sunrise many times on a city that truly never sleeps. It is unreal to be in a city filled with millions of people where every corner is filled with surprises, like a new adorable coffee shop, or an up and coming restaurant or even an old classmate from high school 8 years ago!

Every neighborhood has its own magic and unique look like SOHO, the Upper East Side, Chelsea, Midtown, Times Square, Central Park and many more places I haven even explored. But currently what fills me with happiness is the awaited start of Fall!! I can finally say goodbye to 90 degree humidity and be welcomed by the cold winter breeze. I have begun unpacking my sweaters and coats, scarfs and boots, and I cant wait to start planning all of my outfits.

For this post I chose to incorporate my favorite Fall trend: metallic. From the runway at NYFW, I was inspired to break out my silver sneakers from Aldo. I paired them with a leather dress from Zara that is a layering staple, and a grey short sleeve that ties in the front also from Zara. I have linked similar sneakers below as well as the link to the other pieces I’m wearing so you can easily shop my look.

I am excited to share with you a special surprise I am working on with a local NY brand as well as some new collaborations that have popped up since I arrived at the city. I hope you enjoy  the pics.

Hola mis Fashionistas,

Después de tres semanas en la Gran Manzana, creo que es justo decir que estoy hecha toda una neoyorquina. Ya me he perdido en el tren un millón de veces, me han dicho que camino muy despacio, me he enamorado de los pedazos de pizza a 99 centavos y he visto el amanecer más veces de las que puedo contar en esta ciudad que, en serio, nunca duerme. Nueva York parece ser una fuente inagotable de sorpresas. Puede que sea un nuevo cafecito que parece recién sacado de una foto de Robert Doisneau, un restaurante con un plato que jamás te hubieras imaginado o hasta una persona de tu colegio de secundaria, a la que no veía desde hace 8 años!

Cada barrio de esta enorme cuidad tiene su propia magia y un look original. Por ejemplo el SOHO, el Upper East side, Midtown, Times Square, Central Park, y miles de lugares más que aún me faltan por explorar, tienen un encanto particular que es típico de Nueva York. Pero lo que en este momento me hace más feliz, es el comienzo tan ahnelado del otoño. Por fin me puedo despedir de esos días húmedos de 90 o más grados, y darle la bienvenida a esa brisa fresca de invierno. Por eso, comienzo a poner a punto mis sacos y chaquetas de invierno, más las bufandas y las botas, piezas especiales que serán mi arma secreta para crear mis pintas de invierno.

Para este post decidí comenzar a incorporar una de mis tendencias favoritas del momento: los detalles metálicos. Inspirada por los shows de NYFW, como el de Vivienne Tam, usé mis tenis plateados de Aldo como accesorio destacado para mi look. Lo combiné con un versito de cuero que usé como falda y un saco gris con un nudo, ambos de Zara. No pude encontrar los tenis exactos de mis fotos, pero abajo les dejo los enlaces donde encontrarán unos similares que me encantaron.

Espero que disfruten de las fotos y sigan pendientes del blog, ya que en breve les adelantaré las novedades sobre un projecto especial con una marca local de Nueva York y otras nuevas colaboraciones que han surgido desde que me mudé a la ciudad.

Day 3 NYFW

Hello Fashionistas,

After two exhausting days of fashion week, I wanted to post about my last and final day, which proved to be one of the most memorable of them all.

Day 3 of NYFW was probably the craziest and most amazing out of all of my days in Fashion Week. The day started as the other two with me running (this became a habit..) to my first show of the day: Irina Vitjaz. But I managed to get in as the doors were closing to get a great seat on the second row and snap pictures of the gorgeous gowns. Unlike the other designers I had seen, I was impressed by the fluidity of the designs. All of her pieces had details that made sense with the overall theme of the show. A soft and magical elegance filled the space with gorgeous pieces in chiffon or magical flowy long skirts with delicate tops. My favorite look included a modern baseball cap in pastel green with a short face veil attached to it. It was a modern take on a classic piece and even though it would seem to counter act the style of the show, it worked perfectly with it.

The reception again served as a great opportunity to network and I got to meet people from all over the world! My next show was at 8pm so I headed to grab some lunch, shoot my look of the day and get ready.

When 7pm hit, I headed to Moynihan Station (the main venue for NYFW) early to see if I could get some pics with the photographers and hang out. Walked in and everyone was getting situated fro the Vivienne Tam show so I expected to just wait outside. Got my ticket scanned and was guided to the left side of the venue. Next thing I know Im seeing rows and rows of people, photographers and celebrities running around with cameras trailing behind them and on a big screen to my right: Vivienne Tam.. I SNUCK INTO THE SHOW! I couldn’t believe it. It was chance or luck or just being at the right place at the right time, but I was star struck. Everyone around me was someone important in the industry and I kept spotting celebrities in the front row taking pictures and looking fabulous. And the show did not disappoint the famous audience as it was a beautiful display of bright colors, rocker 70s chick, metallic and fringe. The show opened with an astronaut in space welcoming the audience to the show and as the lights went on, an upbeat rock song filled the air and the models strutted on to the runway.

After my starstruck show and a pic with Nigel from America’s Next top Model, ( I was fan grilling and had to..) I headed to my last show of the day: Anniessa Hassibuan. The pieces that she had on the runway were some of the most elaborate and elegant ones I have ever seen. As the first Indonesian designer at NYFW her designs incorporated the traditional Muslim headscarf as te centerpiece of the presentation, something that has never been seen at a show before. Staying on track with the current trends of pastel pieces, metallic details and delicate satin, her designs featured ready to wear and evening pieces that would stir envy for any onlookers. The Wedding Gown that closed the show left the audience in awe and was well deserved of the standing ovation that followed.

After seeing 3 amazing designers, I left with a huge grin on m

y face to the Vivienne Tam after party at the Skylark where I got a chance to network while being surrounded with the manhattan skyline and sipping the yummiest cocktails. I would call that a truly successful Fashion Week!

Day 2 NYFW

When you see people posting pictures and writing about Fashion Weeks around the world, it all seems glamorous and fun, but what no one tells you is the million other things going on at the same time. The caffeine runs, the rushed photoshoots in between shows, the heat and humidity, lack of sleep and a million more things at the same time. Even with these negatives though, I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

For Day 2 of Fashion Week I got the pleasure to attend the Dan Liu show at Clarkson Square, which is on the West side by the Piers. For the second time in two days, I was the last person in the door for the show… Note to those of you who plan on going to NYFW: add an extra 20 minutes to your commute just in case- A. You get lost or B. The walk from the subway stop takes way longer than expected. I ended up running from the subway to the venue to make it on time, which was far from ideal since I arrived drenched in sweat due to the 100% humidity that no one tells you about in NYC in September.

The show began with gorgeous designs in feminine silhouettes, pastels, delicate flower prints and classic knee length cuts that were very 1950s. The music matched the 50’s vibe and was upbeat and happy. I loved some of the classic LBD dresses with added lace details and could see myself wearing some of his designs to a nice Sunday brunch in the city. I only thought there was a lack of transition in the middle of the collection, with some pieces that didn’t seem to match the vibe and colors of the rest of the collection. But all around the show had a fun and easy style to it. My favorite part was having the designer, newspaper in hand, sitting in a small table imitating a french cafe, casually watching as his models walked one last time on the runway.

The unison of the theme of the venue, the dresses, and even the small detail of handing out a red rose to every girl attending the show, was well crafted. In the little reception after the show, I networked with some bloggers and fashionistas and happen to run into 2 Seattle bloggers! Its a small world.

After the show I ran to meet a photographer to shoot around the city and got caught in a huge rain storm. When it rains in NY, it pours and of course as a new New Yorker I had not purchased an umbrella and was forced to sit out the rain in a Starbucks near by. Day 1: NYFW

Hello Fashionistas!

I am so excited to share with you that I finally moved to New York city! After months of going back and forth and deciding what my plans would be after graduation, I finally took the leap! My move time matched perfectly with the start of Fashion Week so after just two days in the city I have gotten to see a snippet of what NYFW has to offer and I’m craving more.

After countless emails to PR contacts in NY, I got invited to 5 amazing shows. It was not an easy process but trust me, so worth it. Arriving to the city at 6am, September 9th, my day consisted in getting over my jet lag and getting ready for my first ever Fashion Show: Francesca Liberatore. I picked a striped skirt from Nordstrom, a tailored crop top from BCBG, my yellow statement jacket and the most comfortable heels I own from American Eagle. With my invite from Fashion GPS in hand I got on the subway to Moynihan Station, the main venue for Fashion week, located right in the heart of the city. My experience was so surreal walking by the big NYFW signs and the black runway and having photographers all around me asking if they could get my picture, I felt like a real celebrity!

The venue inside was unreal. The Tres Emme Beauty station glistened with gold and at the very back was the Jimmy Choo anniversary station, which was exclusively for VIP. I walked into the venue only to find myself surrounded by the most fashionable people in the city. It was crazy that right across from me sat, no other than, Kelly Osborne (fan girl moment..). The collection was truly breath taking. I loved the structured pieces, her take on a plain white t-shirt and her play with colors including orange, magenta pink, turquoise and the LBD. Her pieces with glitter detail truly blew me away and my absolute favorite was a black strapless with a fabric belt that just elevated a classic simple look.

I got to meet other fashionistas and felt like a star when I got asked to do a short interview with E!news about my experience at fashion week. I can’t wait to share with all of you what I said, although I can’t lie, I was extremely nervous! Once I have the footage I will be sure to share it with all of you. I still have more shows and parties to attend as NYFW is just starting and I can’t wait to post more about my NYC adventures to stay tuned…

Hello my lovely readers!

It has been three weeks since my last post 😦 Summer was supposed to be a time to get more consistent with posts on the blog and instead my life has been filled with multiple trips, planning for NY, looking for jobs, hosting family, and a gazillion more things. I have decided that I will now be posting once a month until my life reaches some sort of stability again. I want my content to be honest and in the busy life I’m leading right now there is not enough time to get the quality that I want. Im on the lookout for a new photographer because, although friends are always fun to take pictures with, they are much harder to coordinate shoots with.

These are my latest news, but I hope that you will still follow me along on this journey. Currently just got back from a Bachelorette party in Vegas, where I left just too days after dropping my mom off at the airport! It has been go go go since my week in New York two weeks ago. The good thing is that just taking that time to visit and reconnect with old contacts as well as my future city was really helpful. It filled me with hope and excitement for the future and what is to come, even when it is hidden behind a shadow of fear. Im learning that growing up truly is not easy, but that making the move will help me grow as a person in a way I never have before.

My outfit post today is of this classic yellow jacket that caught my eye on multiple occasions on social media. The bright yellow Zara jacket was a huge hit in Spain when it came out and I was so happy to finally get my hands on it! I styled it with simple jeans and an Urban outfitters top with a chocker attached (since those are so popular right now) and simple American Eagle sunnies with my Clarke summer shoes. every single piece was under $50 dollars each but together made a rocking look! Don’t be afraid to add a pop of color to your wardrobe this summer, the yellow is currently my favorite.

Pastels and College Graduation

Hello my dear fashionistas!

I want to start out by saying I’m sorry it has been so long since I have done a post. Life got out of control for me and truthfully I was taking on more than I could chew. I felt that I couldn’t do all of the projects I wanted and have them be my best work so I had to hold back on blogging. But just this past Sunday I received that bright red diploma from Seattle University and I am ready for an amazing summer of preparing for my NYC move and figuring life out after college. I want to have more time to bog and figure out if this is my passion and how I can incorporate it into my life right now to be a resource to follow my dreams.

For this weeks post I decided go with a full pastel look, head to toe BCBG Max Azria. As soon as the sun came out her in Seattle for some reason I have become obsessed with pastels. I am usually an advocate for bright colors, but there is something very elegant about a minimalistic look with little color. My white blazer is an incredible piece because is super versatile. It is the perfect staple to go over a nice dress to cover up for an event or a perfect jacket to dress up a pair of ripped jeans and a t-shirt. My skirt is fun and flirty and the perfect shade of nude! only thing I would recommend is to get those no-show panties fro VS to go along with them since the skirt is tight at the top and shows everything. Otherwise to finish the look, gold statement jewelry from BCBG which I got on sale for 9-20 dollars which is super good for their pieces.

Be on the look out next week for pictures from NYC, since I’ll be traveling to network for an entire week (I’m stocked!). Im hoping to visit the Met fashion exhibit right now: Magnus Maxina, the theme of the Met gala this year. I am also trying to see an exhibit in honor of Isaac Mizrahi. Its just amazing to get a chance to be in the city I love and to be around all the things that make me happy.
